The television set has really changed our lives and many times, it has not changed them for the better. At one time, the TV set was only in the room where we tended to congregate during the evenings but now, many of us have a set in every room in the home. It is a constant noise that is going on in the background and many of us have become so dependent on it that we feel we can not even sleep without it. The fact of the matter is, however, it might be the television set that is robbing you of the sleep that you need.

If you are the type of person that feels that they must have the television set on in order to go to sleep, you might be surprised to learn that it may actually be robbing you of deep sleep. It is during these phases of deep sleep that our bodies rejuvenate themselves and our minds are able to sort the information that it has picked up during the day. The reason why it does this is because it adds noise in the room, something that is not conducive to getting a good night sleep. It may also be disrupting our sleep patterns as a result of the light that the television set gives off. This can cause us to have insomnia like symptoms that we may not recognize are coming from this electronic device.

Some of us turn the television on at night in order to drown out other noise that may be going on in the home. If this is the case for you, you are simply creating a noisy environment that is close to you when you are sleeping. It is a much better idea for you to get an air filter or perhaps run a fan in order to create some white noise. This will help to drown out the other noises that are in the house while still allowing you to sleep properly.

If you absolutely must have the television set on in order to go to sleep, make sure that you use the sleep function. This is a timer that is built into most television sets which automatically shuts it off after a set period of time. If you do this, you may be able to use the TV to help you fall asleep and then maintain your sleep because the television set will not be waking you up.

* You aren't a good writer?
* You don't know where to start?

Let's talk about how you can break through your barriers and get started immediately. Because as soon as you have your own product, you can start trading products for dollars instead of time for dollars.

Obstacle one: You aren't an expert on anything

The solution to this is to find people who ARE experts and interview them.

It's beyond the scope of this article but in Product Dashboard
(productdashboard.com) I give you a specific resource for finding experts to interview and the email to send to them that has been proven to work.

The reason I mention this is one of the questions that came up on the call above is, "Will experts do this?" And the answer is that not all experts will.

But if you know WHERE to find them and HOW to approach them and you put a WIFM in it (what's in it for me) they will.

As a quick tip, I recommend you hunt down people who have something to promote. This gives them a reason to do an interview with you -- because they need to get exposure for whatever they're promoting.

For example, look for people who are ALREADY doing interviews.
You can search blogs for interviews using technorati.com. That's a good way to start.

Obstacle two: You can't write

The solution here is to do telephone interviews and record them.
You can also sell your products via teleseminars instead of sales letters.

Don't let the lack of writing skills hold you back.

TIP: Use freeconferencecall.com to conduct and record your call.

Now, obviously, I recommend taking some writing classes to improve your writing skills in the meantime. But to get started, use what you HAVE.

If you can talk over the phone, you too can create your own product!

One of the issues that comes up is what questions to ask.

TIP: Ask the questions you personally are curious about.

Obstacle three: You don't know where to start

The obvious place to start is with your passions, hobbies and interests.

But if you're really stuck, then go to Facebook or Myspace and look at all the groups you can join.

Typically, if there are groups formed on a topic, there are people selling products to that group. But you can always find out if that's the case by joining 5 or 10 groups and see who is selling what and for how much.

By reading the blogs of the product sellers, you'll get an idea of whether or not they're making money.

Here is the magic formula:

Step 1: Find a group of people with money to spend who are in the habit of spending it.

Step 2: Find out what they're spending their money on and why.

Step 3: Give them a reason to spend their money with you

You must have a clear benefit, strong differentiation and potent proof. Those are the 3 keys to selling.

If you don't have a crystal clear benefit that is somewhat unique vs. the competition and if you don't have strong proof you can deliver that benefit, you'll have problems making sales.

But if you can present a clear benefit that other products don't offer and you prove you can deliver the benefit, then you're on the road to sales.

Here's the thing:

In life you either trade time for dollars or products for dollars.
As long as you're trading time for dollars you have a limit on your income because you only have so many hours in a day.

But there is almost no limit to how many products you can sell in a day, especially if you're selling ebooks or digitally delivered products on the Internet.

Let's talk about hiring your first part time virtual assistant:

-- Can you afford it?
-- Where do you find them?
-- How do you work with them?
-- How do you save 50% on their pay?
-- What country should you hire them from?
-- What if their work isn't up to par?
-- What skills do they need?

One of the big steps in your online career will be when you make that move to hire your first online assistant.

There are many ways to outsource your work. You can, of course, hire freelancers off of elance or other sites.

That's good for one-off projects.

But very soon in your career, you're going to want to hire a part time virtual assistant and later a full-time one. That way, they can learn over time how you think and what you want.

You get a higher quality result with less work.

As you know, Lisa worked for me for 7 years. I've had other virtual assistants. And now I have some employees. But I worked my way up to this point over time.

Here are my tips for finding and using your first part time virtual assistant:

1. Hire someone in Canada. They have high speed Internet and are Internet savvy. If you're in the U.S., they're on US time.

Lisa was in Canada. Rick Hanson did my technical stuff for many years. He's in Canada.

2. Hire someone in your relative time zone.

It's hard for me to work with virtual assistants in UK or Australia because of the time zone difference.

Whatever country you're in, I think you need to look for someone in the same time zone. That way, you can collaborate on projects during work hours.

The cool thing is that if you're a night owl, you can find a time zone where that's someone else's work day.

3. Grab a 50% discount on pay

The great thing about Canada when I started there with Lisa was I got a 50% discount due to the exchange rate. Over time, this wilted.

But when you're getting started, look for that exchange rate discount.

4. Use your resources to find people

a. Craigs List -- That should be obvious. I love using Craigs List.

b. Newspapers. I ran classified ads in several newspapers in Canada.

c. Post in forums. Post what you're looking for in forums like Warriorsforum, Digital Point forums, the Rich Jerk forum, abestweb forum, Anthony Blake's forum (ablake.com).
There are many other forums you can use, depending on the talent.

5. Do NOT be scared to hire someone if you have revenue.

As long as you have a profitable sales process, don't be scared to hire someone part time. You'll NEVER feel like you can afford it.

But as long as you have a product that's selling, a target market and a lead generation process, you will very likely find it pays off.

You WILL be scared to death to hire that first person. But if you have a sales process that's working, I really believe it'll free up your time and let you concentrate on higher return activities.

Face it, answering customer service emails doesn't make you any dough.

6. Hire talent over pay

I'd rather pay more and get someone really talented than pay less and get mediocre talent.

You want someone you don't have to train. Trust me on this one.

7. Find someone with exposure to Photoshop and good writing skills. When you're hiring that first virtual assistant, you need a jack of all trades.

Someone whose very computer savvy, has had a little customer service experience, good writing skills, and a little art background or Photoshop is great. It's ideal if they can do the basics in Dreamweaver.

When I hired Lisa, she was already doing customer service for Internet Marketing Challenge but they let her go when Corey bought the company. She could do a drop shadow in Photoshop and had taken a correspondence course on html.

8. Call them first thing every day and plan the day's work.
Even if they're part time, you need to review their work plan daily. Just call and go over the work for the day.

This is why I say you need someone in your time zone. In my opinion, Skype doesn't cut it. You need to be able to talk over the phone.

And you need to be able to EASILY reach the person. If you have to email them and get a response overnight, this isn't going to work out long term.

Yes, you can do that for repetitious outsourced projects.
But the virtual assistant person is your RIGHT HAND. You need them on demand at least during set hours.

9. Here are some tasks you can have them do:

a. Fix html problems
b. Customer service problem solving
c. Compile pdf's
d. Create reseller pages and contests
e. Respond to the needs of affiliates or jv partners f. Create products g. Design banner ads for affiliates h. Write emails i. Write postcards to resellers j. Do things you don't want to

10. Dictate your promo emails to your VA.

This is why you want someone you work with every day. You can dictate your promo emails to them.

Over time, they'll learn how to type these up and you get promos out to your list just by dictating an email in your morning call.

11. Set rules upfront about days off, time off, emergencies and advancing pay.

a. Set a rule upfront that you don't advance pay.
b. Set a rule on time off from work hours for personal errands.

Virtual assistants sometimes don't see it as a job. And you have crucial tasks for the day when they up and announce they have a dentist appointment or need to take a family member to the Pharmacy. Whatever. Set the rules upfront.

c. Decide if there will be vacation time.
d. Have some form of non-disclosure agreement even if it isn't legally valid. At least you can have a clear, unambiguous agreement.

12. Be quick to pull the plug.

If junk goes on such as their Internet goes down all the time, tasks don't get done and you get excuses, critical mistakes are made, pull the plug.

13. You'll know within one to two weeks if the person is good.
A bad hire will want to take a month to get up to speed and research the tasks. A good person will hop right in and start doing work.

14. Let the person in your plans. Brainstorm with them. Let them experience fun and exciting tasks also. Don't always just give them boring stuff. Find out what they love to do and see if you can work some of those things into their responsibilities.

15. Let them grow in the position.

If you see potential, talent or abilities they aren't using, pay for them to get a little training and see if that talent will blossom.

I bought Lisa a Photoshop book and in 30 days she had gone through all the tutorials and was amazing. But she had an art background and tons of talent.

16. The hardest person you'll EVER hire is your first.

I remember Corey (Rudl) telling me that once over the phone. And it was so true. And it's true.

There's an old sea story in the Marine Corps about a lieutenant who

Tun Tavern in Philadelphia.

If you see a Marine today, past or present, please take a moment
and wish this "Warrior from the Sea" a Happy Birthday.

We sometimes take our freedom and personal safety & security
for granted, but our Marines never do.

Morning, noon and night, they are there for us, usually in harm's
way keeping us safe.

To all the Marines, past and present that have served and are

Greetings, today my wanderings have found me tailgating on the campus of MTSU, Mufreesboro TN. My buddy Rob; from Napa Auto Care in Mufreesboro invited me. As u can see from the picture, the entree of the day was a 85lb roasted pig. To say this tasted good is an understatement. What a meal, & waht a way to spend a day, hanging with a good friend, making new friends, and enjoying some real good food.

Key Internet marketing terms & vocabulary

A lot of times Internet marketers throw terms around and assume everyone knows what they mean.

To help you out, I'm providing a list here written in layman's terms. Some of these aren't the "precise" technical definition.
But they're what I call working definitions that are easy to understand.

KEY TERMS AND VOCABULARY

Continuity: The means something that people are charged for regularly, typically monthly or quarterly. In the biz, we call this "continuity income" or recurring billing.
Newsletters are usually paid for monthly as are membership sites. The reason you see a lot of emphasis on continuity offers is it provides steady income and gives you a way to pay your bills. The classic example is the book club of the month programs.

Forced Continuity: Forced means you don't have a choice.
The way this works is when you buy one product, you're given a free trial of a newsletter, membership site or CD of the month club. The trial is usually 14 to 30 days.
Sometimes as long as two months. At the end of that time period, if you don't cancel, you're charged monthly for whatever it is.

Some marketers get people in continuity billing then NEVER send emails or communications hoping people will FORGET about the purchase and let the billing continue forever. I find this to be legally risky. If you do forced continuity, make sure people know they're being charged and can cancel without jumping through hoops.

Back End: The back end of the business is everything AFTER the initial sale. In other words, it's the follow up business. In the ideal world, you break even or make a small profit on the initial sale (or what we call the "front end." And you make your profits on the upsells, downsells and subsequent sales.

Upsells: Additional products or services offered at the point of the sale. As crazy as it sounds, the EASIEST time to make another sale to the customer is when they already have their credit card out! Any additional product offered is an upsell.

Downsell: If the upsell is declined, another offer for a lower price than the upsell is made. This is called a downsell.

Target market: A market is a group of people who are in the MARKET for a product or service. A target market is the market you're targeting. For example, males online between the ages of 35 and 65 who want to start a home-based business would be a target market. Stated differently, it's the people who are the potential buyers of what you sell.

Sales letters: In this business, we often use very long sales letters similar to the direct mail letters you receive in the mail. We call these sales letters because they're me-to-you letters that SELL something. These are different from a brochure, which is an impersonal communication. Sales letters are written as though you're talking to the person directly. They're more personal and persuasive.

Membership site: These are password protected sites that have content delivered regularly and often have a forum or other way to interact with members.

Forum: These are places you go to talk to others who share a common interest.

Opt ins: When someone joins your email list, they "opt in"
to receive emails from you.

Double opt in: When someone joins your email list, they receive an email asking them to click a confirmation link to PROVE they subscribed to the email list. This is an anti-spam feature and is now standard practice.

Autoresponder: This is a software program that lets you send email broadcasts to everyone on your list. It will also send a sequence of emails any number of days apart that you specify.m

Shopping cart: The ordering mechanism you use to get people's name, address and credit card or check info and process their order.

Affiliate program: A program where you promote a vendor's product or service and receive a commission when there's a sale. The classic example is Amazon.com. You can link to books on Amazon. And if a visitor to your web site buys one of them, you get a small commission.

Associate program: Same as affiliate program

Banner ads: Those square or horizontal ads on web sites.

Ebook: Basically the same as a printed book but delivered online, quite often as a PDF.

PDF: Portable Delivery Format. This is a uniform format for delivering digital information. A standard of method of delivering documents on the web.

White paper: A research paper or report delivered as a PDF.

Name Squeeze: A term trademarked by Jonathan Mizel. See Squeeze page.

Squeeze page: A page with only one purpose to obtain or "squeeze" a name and email address, or email address alone, from the web visitor.

Lead capture page: Same as a squeeze page.

Power Squeeze page: See squeeze page

Hits: Some stats programs measure web site traffic by hits. This is not a particularly accurate way to measure visitors.

Unique visitors: Stat programs attempt to identify actual visitors and eliminate duplicate visitors in a 24-hour period.

Cookies: The way things get tracked on the Internet. These are little text files put on your computer. They contain tidbits of information that allow stuff to be tracked. In the case of affiliate programs, the way we track sales and credit the correct reseller with the commissions is through the use of cookies. The cookie simply contains that affiliate's ID number.

PPC: Pay-per-click advertising. Google made PPC a dominant advertising method. As a ppc advertiser, you run ads on Google and ONLY pay when someone clicks on your ad.

Monetize: When you find a way to make money with something, you monetize it. So you'll hear people talk about monetizing their traffic. All their talking about is finding a way to make money off of their web site visitors.

Traffic: Visitors to your web site or web page are traffic.

Product launch: When a number of affiliates promote one product o one day or one week. Typically last for one or two weeks and often involve heavy promotions by affiliates who are trying to win cash and prizes.

Aweber: One of the main autoresponder services.

One Shopping Cart: Another autoresponder service that also contains a shopping cart, ad tracker, affiliate software and other bells and whistles.

Ad tracker: A program that lets you create links that track when people click on them and then also count actions or sales that follow the click.

Affiliate software: Software that allows you to run your own affiliate program and pay affiliates commissions when they sell your product or service.

Clickbank: A marketplace for ebooks sold by affiliates.

Loss of sleep, even for a few short hours during the night, can prompt one's

Loss of sleep insidiously affects sustained attention, cognitive speed and
accuracy, working memory, reaction time, and overall behavioral capability,
often without the sleep-deprived person being aware of the deficits.

Loss of sleep also reduces levels of leptin, a hormone that suppresses
appetite, and increases ghrelin (GRELL-in), an appetite-stimulating hormone
a combination that can encourage eating.

Loss of sleep can even be dangerous.

Insomnia was defined as having any one of the following symptoms:
difficulty falling asleep, waking often during the night, waking up to early in
the morning and being unable to go back to sleep, or even waking up in the
morning feeling unrested.

Over half (58percent) of the poll respondents reported at least one symptom
of insomnia on two or more nights of the week.

Top Ten Halloween Safety Tips

Greetings,

I can't believe Halloween is here already. Where has this year
gone?

Halloween is fun for kids, but, unfortunately, it can also be an
evening that children end up visiting the emergency room.

Follow this advice to keep your kids safe this year.

1) The number ONE rule of Halloween safety is to ensure your child
is supervise. Parents should stay very aware of their children's
movements.

2) Don't let your child go to the door unattended and never let your
child go into the house. Because Halloween Safety is so
important, the parents should not be letting their 1st graders run
off by themselves.

3) Halloween safety is more important than candy. Halloween safety
is insisted on the child to prevent any accidents or injuries.

4) Halloween safety is about making sure kids are safe in their
costumes, on the street, and around strangers

5) Kids in ill-fitting costumes are more likely to trip and fall. As you
select your children's costumes, make sure they are fire-resistant
and not so long that kids could trip while walking.

6) Parents should also apply reflective tape on costumes, or make
sure kids have reflective shoes, hat or bag so they are more visible
to cars. Make sure adults are visible to cars at night also.

7) Rules on crossing the street and going with strangers can be
forgotten during the commotion of trick-or-treating; review the
rules with the kids. Reinforce basic safety tips such as:
(a) Don't get into cars with strangers,
(b) Not talking to strangers,
(c) Looking both ways before crossing streets,
(d) Be aware of what (and who) is around you,
(e) Obeying traffic rules.

8) Kids under 12 should have a parent travel with them. Try to
have at least one adult for every six kids in the group.

9) Do your Halloween safety duty and check every piece of candy
your kids bring home this year. The chances of your kids getting
contaminated candy are very slim, but it's always better to be safe
than sorry.

10) Additionally, fire departments throughout the US recommend
using Halloween as a day to change your smoke alarm batteries,
to alarm you if an accidental jack-o-lantern fire occurs, and to
protect your family throughout the rest of the year.

Additionally parents; remember to practice Halloween safety if you
are driving kids around. Do not pass stopped cars if you are driving,
as they may be unloading groups or small children. If you are
driving, it is best to choose a neighborhood, and park your
vehicle.

And please, don't talk on your cell phone while driving.

Who else want to stay safe in their own kitchen?

Greetings,

Today's post covers some basic kitchen safety rules. I know this
is not all inclusive, so I would love to read your comments on
how you keep a safe kitchen.

Kitchen safety is of critical importance in every home, and
particularly when there are children around.

Kitchen safety is important, but probably the farthest topic from
their young minds. But there lots of things you can do to make it
easy.

Safety in the kitchen doesn't have to be expensive.

Because a kitchen is an integral part of our everyday life, kitchen
safety is as elementary as baking a cake. As you know there are
many potential hazards in the kitchen for children or an elder,
particularly if they are confused or unreliable. Teach them knife
safety rules, but make sure that an adult is always present.
Sad to say, but where there are sharp utensils some elders are
not reliable in the kitchen unsupervised.

Safety gates in doorways will keep children out of the kitchen
while you're cooking, but don't be tempted to disappear into
another room.

Safety gates, cabinet latches, corner guards, cord covers,
drawer latches and outlet covers are some of the essential ideas
for keeping your kitchen child safe.

Safety mats are used on the floor to prevent a slip or fall from a
ladder while reaching high up into a cupboard. Because of a
situation like that, safety should be a key determining factor when
considering kitchen cabinet remodeling.

Also, do you have working smoke detectors and carbon monoxide
detectors.

Until children are age 14+ they should NOT operate the stove
top without adult supervision. Teach them this easy fire safety
Rule: Remember that when the stove is being used, that stove
is hot!

Keep a kitchen fire extinguisher close by, but also know how to
use it!

The National SAFE KIDS Campaign has created guidelines for
children in the kitchen to ensure safety and fun.

Who else wants emotional or physical relief with EFT?

Emotional Freedom Techniques or EFT is an energy psychology that
literally allows one to tap his or her way to emotional freedom.

Deepak Chopra, MD says "EFT offers great healing benefits.

I first came across EFT by listening to an interview by Dr. Joe Vitale
with Brad Yates. As I listened, I became intrigued, but to be honest,
not really sold on an idea that tapping certain parts of ones body would
bring relief from pain or even emotional scars.

Except for massages, I have never been one into some type of
"spiritual healing."

Arriving home and turning off the interview, I noticed again, a pain in
my right knee. My knee had been bothering me lately, but like most
guys, I got use to just shrugging it off.

Sitting down in my house alone I got to thinking about what I just had
heard, and hey, since I was alone, nobody to bother me or make fun
of me, lets give this EFT thing a shot.

Well, I did a round of EFT, and felt a little better. To be honest I didn't
expect a miracle, or anything really for that matter, but I did feel
something.

Or I should say, "I felt less of something in my knee."

So what the heck, I tried another round,

Sure enough, I had even less pain in my knee before. This pain in my
knee I should note would be like the ripping sound of Velcro in my knee
as I moved it.

The light bulb in my head went off, "I AM on to something here!"

So onto round three of EFT.
(each round of EFT takes only 3-5 minutes).

After round three, I stood up and walked around the room again, just
like the other previous rounds, and guess what, that's right, no pain.

Unbelievable! To say the least, I am "sold" on this crazy tapping
technique.

Here now is part two. I hope the previous and following

Grade one hardware: locks that are classified grade one generally are made
for commercial installations and can be used hundreds of times each day and
still work for many years. Even though they are commercial grade, many are
used on homes where people want the strongest hardware possible.

Grade three hardware: this is the lowest quality type of hardware usually sold
in most hardware stores and many internet stores that are not really familiar
with quality hardware.

We strongly suggest you never use this cheap hardware.

This just in from my new best friend George Dickel.

He sent me a new recipe for using Hair of the Dog.

This post has to do with "bump keys".

On August 2nd, 2006, Newsweek ran a web article on bump keys that
started a public media spread of the information.

Bump Keys are an old locksmith method of opening or bumping locks.
Bump keys are usually considered to be a lock pick, so if lock picks are illegal
to possess in your geographic area, the bump key is probably also illegal.

Bump keys are "basically an old-fashioned way of picking a lock,"
said Jerry Cunningham, of the Danville Police Department.

Bump keys are certainly not the only way a criminal can enter your home,
business, or vehicle.

Police say burglars also tend to break-in in a more straightforward way, like
smashing a window.

Bump keys are just one more example of a threat to your personal safety.

Bump keys are no more a threat than any of the hundreds of other ways of
getting in your home, but now thanks to the internet and video sites,
lock bumping and lock bump keys are sweeping the internet and America.
So how can you provide the much needed security of your house against
bump keys?

First, you should be aware of this security vulnerability to your home and two,
you should consider buying a better lockset with more pins to make this
attack harder to execute.

In America, almost all the locks sold in hardware stores can be opened with
just two different bump keys. " Most consumer-grade deadbolt locks and
keyed doorknobs made by companies such as Kwikset and Schlage and
sold at home-improvement and hardware stores are easily opened with
bump keys."

"Bump keys are able to bypass both the standard lock in your knob and the
deadbolt and it's not just locks at home that concern security experts "It can
be pretty serious especially when you consider that more than five million post
office box locks can be bumped open in the same fashion which is perfect for
identity thieves."

"High security locks add extra locking features within the cylinder which
makes the bumping much more difficult," said Clyde Roberon of Medeco, Inc.

Police say there's more to home security than just locks.

Police do say spending all that money won't matter if you don't take the next
step of locking your doors in the first place, or activating your home security
systems.

High Security locks, and an internet rumor that is FALSE about bump keys.

In a previous post we wrote about personal safety when using an ATM machine.

Knowing your surroundings play a major role in keeping yourself safe.

Let’s continue with part 2 of Personal safety at an ATM machine.

Choose an ATM that looks and ‘feels’ safer, even if it is a couple of miles
out of the way.
Try and limit your use to daylight hours. Take someone with you after hours,
if you can.
When you drive up to an ATM location, scan the area for any suspicious persons.
If you see anyone suspicious standing nearby or sitting in a car, drive away.
When you approach an ATM on foot be prepared and have your access card ready.
Memorize your personal PIN number to prevent loss and speed the transaction.
After inserting your card and your PIN number keep an eye out behind you.
Never accept an offer to help or request for help from a suspicious male ahead of
you at the machine. If anyone suspicious or seemingly dangerous approaches
terminate your transaction and leave immediately, even if it means running away
and leaving your ATM card in the machine.
First, tell the suspicious male in a loud, firm voice to “back-off’ and leave you alone.
This is designed to startle the person and give you time to flee, if appropriate.
When you receive cash from the machine put it away immediately, extract your
card, and walk away.

If you use your car at a drive-thru ATM machine the same rules apply.
Keep the car in gear, with your foot firmly on the brake, while using the
ATM machine.
Keep a close eye on your rear and side view mirrors during the transaction.
Robbers almost always approach from the rear on the driver’s side. If you see
anyone approaching, drive off even if it means leaving your A TM card behind.

If an armed robber confronts you, just give up your money without argument.
The cash is not worth serious injury or death.
Get to a safe place and call the police immediately!

In this world of convenience, one of the most used is an ATM machine.
They simply have been incorporated into our lives. They are great to grab
some quick cash while on the run, but still, depending on the location and
time of the day, especially evening, still pose a bit of risk.

For personal safety and security sake, let’s do a little planning ahead so we
use them safely, with no injuries.

As always and as we have spoke about in other posts, be aware of your
surroundings. Just because a ATM machine is open 24/7 doesn’t mean it
is always safe to use it.

* Did you know most ATM robberies occur at night between 8:00pm &
midnight?

* ATM robbers are usually males under 25 years of age.

* ATM robbers usually position themselves nearby waiting for a victim to
approach and withdraw cash.

* Most ATM robbery victims are women and were alone when robbed.

Most victims claim that they never saw the robber coming. ATM robbers
use a gun or claim to have a concealed weapon when confronting their
victim and make demands for their cash.

Your personal safety and security is at stake when using an ATM machine,
here are a couple of tips to make the transaction a little safer.

* Use only ATM Machines in well-lighted, high traffic areas.

* Don’t use ATM machines that are in remote areas or hidden in such away
like behind buildings, behind pillars, walls or away from public view. Beware
of obvious hiding places like shrubbery or overgrown trees.
Robbers like to have the element of surprise and no witnesses.

* If the lights around the ATM machine is not working, stay away, find another
machine.

* as stated earlier, avoid ATM machines next to obvious hiding places.

* Have your card ready and leave quickly, don’t count your cash in public.

* Beware of offers for help from strangers during an ATM transaction.

* Don’t fight with or attempt to follow the robber.

* Drive or walk to a safe place and immediately call the police!

Above all, it pays to know your surroundings and a little planning ahead can
make your night out more enjoyable.

Please remember, the above article are just tips to help keep you safer and make
you more aware of your surrounding.

The Great Cookie Dough Crusade...revisited

Greetings,

If you read my blog a few weeks ago, or you check my achieves, you will remember or read about "The Great Cookie Dough Crusade".

This was about helping my daughter and her volleyball team raise much needed funds through the selling of cookie dough.

Well, the team did very good, (Not sure of the actual numbers, guess my Top Secret Security clearance from the Marine Corps wasn't high enough for me to know info such as that).

The coach was pleased. That's always a good thing.

So, the cookie dough arrived Wed night. We spent some of the evening delivering the dough to friends that bought some.

When we got home, we baked some of the Peanut Butter ones, 18 to be exact!

Oh they were so good.

So this morning, just to be safe, (Quality Control you know) we baked some of the White Chocolate/Macadamia nut cookie dough.

Once again these get my vote!

So, all in all, the team raised a fair amount of money, and the product was well worth the price.

(Now to go get that Gym membership, I have a feeling I am going to need it!)

Greetings,

Ok, good things are happening and in between doing my Locksmith business, (www.sherwoodlocksmithing.com) thing are progressing on the web page.

Hosting company unpgrade from www.namecheap.com , done.

I went into my accounts page, located my domain name, changed server name that namecheap issused me.

I went to the control panel you get with namecheap as as hosting company and added my new domain name to my already existing name www.hotdenergy.com

Oh yes, I also registered my corp name, www.Lexzco.com that points to my Locksmith company page. I did that so when people receive a confirmation email from me, it looks a lot more professional. All emails from my two new sites now come from Lexzco inc.

Also, for my auto responder and shopping cart, I am using

So things are progressing very well.

Good morning everyone,

As noted yesterday, the web page progress just did not happen.

Sidetracked by volleyball all Friday night, and all day Saturday will do that to a person.

Plus I tried to fire up the trusty laptop Sunday morning, nope, no go.

Well, it was a good day to watch Boston Red Sox baseball and New England Patriots football anyways.

So here is where I stand.

I have registered the domain and waiting for my hosting company to bring everything up to speed.

I use www.Namecheap.com and let me say I really, really like them. For one thing the customer support is actually customer support. Pricing is very reasonable for hosting and domain registration. I will continue to use and recommend them.

I am also awaiting a reply for some shopping cart questions I asked to my shopping cart host. I understand this may be a little slow since I asked the question over the weekend.

I have a couple new ideas that I will add to my sales letter so it will stand out, (hint, hint, some audio on the 1st page).

So there we are, not much news, and nothing exciting. Except the audio idea.

I know I am making progress and I continue to reaffirm that to myself.

With luck, by the time it hits mainland Texas, it will have dropped from a category 5 to a category 1 hurricane. We're stocking up on supplies, like everyone else.
While the world is still reeling from the effects of Katrina, we're now bracing for something that could be just as bad, or worse.
As I listen to the news, and watch people, the key word that everyone says or seems to breathe is "victim."
We're victims of storms.
We're victims of chance.
We're victims of a poorly run government.
We're victims of gas prices, gas shortages, inflation, recession, taxes, wars, and now -- the worst of all -- Mother Nature.
I'm going to say something unusual. It may upset some people. I'm hoping it will inspire you. Here goes:
You have more power than you think.
While you may not want to stand in the path of Rita, you don't have to cower under the bed.
As odd as it may sound, I believe that if enough of us think positive, we can create a counter storm of sorts. We can protect ourselves and our loved ones with our thoughts.
I've described and proved this with the research in the back of my book, "The Attractor Factor."
Nineteen studies *proved* that when a large group of people hold positive intentions, those intentions radiate out and become reality.
No, I'm not saying ignore the storm warnings. I'm saying don't get caught up in the fear that the warnings often trigger.
Look. If you think the storm will get you, then it's already gotten you. You're living in fear.
Your life is dark, gloomy and in a cage. The media is flawless at whipping us into fear.
So I suggest ignoring the media. It's not information, it's propaganda. It gets large groups of people to think negative, which of course then becomes reality.
Why can't we do the opposite?
Why can't we get large groups of people
to think positive?
At this very moment, as I type this and you read this, all is well.
Isn't it?
Aren't you ok?
Aren't you feeling fine right now?
Yes, be sure to have batteries and water and supplies.
But also check the storehouse in your mind.
Are you living in fear, or living in trust?
Are you focused on the negative, or are
you doing something to create a positive?
We are all, always, at choice.
My plea is that the readers of my ezine -- you -- will stop, breathe, and focus; pray, or in some positive way send out an energy that will help dissolve the fear in and around us.
I'm asking you to do this on Saturday, the day Rita is scheduled to visit Texas.
As I was finishing this article, UPS delivered two books to me. Both are timely and worth mentioning.

happiness in the face of hardship.
I think this is relevant. While the media is making us shake in our boots, we can choose to take care of ourselves and others *while* remaining happy.
Happiness is a choice.

Mornin Ya'll,

Well as mentioned yesterday, the website or i should say web page has started.

I have my shopping cart button on the page now. I also tweaked the sales letter a lil bit.

Also I was able to create my download page. Putting the text on this page was simple enough, but the download image of where one will "right click & Save taget As", well that was a different story.

I had to go into my download page, insert another table, and then I created the download box, and highlighted the "Save Target As.." line.

I have to admit I tried to copy & paste an image inside the table, but couldn't get it to bring up. Oh well, maybe someone knows how to do that and can inform me so I'll know what to do next time.

I found all the bonuses I plan to include and put them all into one folder.

Pat O'Bryan workbook has been very, very helpful to me in setting my page up.

I will include his url next time with the product of his that I am using.

Also, if you have read my blog posts from earlier this year, you know I am inspired by a couple of products. One that I am using and HIGHLY reccommend is www.infoproductswizard.com

Step by step on how to do most everything.

I am know in the process of uploading my product & bonuses to my secure shopping cart system. If that is the wrong terminology, forgive, but that name works for me.

This is my latest snag.

Good morning ya'll,

Yesterday I started to develop a new web page.

I won"t go into details of what it is, yet.

I kind of want to jot down what I've done as i progress through this new journey.

A week or so ago, I designed and put in place a new "squeeze" page for my Hair of the dog energy drink site.

If your interested, that site is www.hotdenergy.com I know it's kinda plain right now, but I do have more ideas to spruce it up.

Feel free to comment, I'd love to know what people want or are looking for.

Anyways, looking back on how that site all came together, I guess it was relatively simple.

Of course if I had recorded my progress on doing that page, I probably would see where any frustration was.

This new site I want to install a shopping cart so people can actually buy & download an ebook and extra bonuses of a real good value.

Tues Sept 9th, as I realized more & more how i wanted this new site, I actually sat down and started it.

Sometimes just starting is the hardest.

Within the course of a couple of hours, I had my sales letter.

I'm cheating here because over the past 9 or 10 months I have jotted down ideas for this sales letter. Tuesday I finally put them all together with some modification.

I am using the free version of Eversoft Firstpage 2006. For me it seems to be a good program. I am getting the hang of it.

I like being able to go back and forth from design to source to preview. Maybe you can do the same with Dreamweaver and other software, but hey this version was free. Good deal.

So with that being said, my sales letter is complete.

The locksmith phone started ringing, and I had a volleyball game to go to, so that's as far as i got yesterday.

No much, but it's a start.

I am so proud of her work ethic and her determination.

TIPS FOR HANDLING BOGUS PHONE CALLS

Greetings everyone,

Here is your March 2008 edition of Sherwood Locksmithing's Security eZine. This months Newsletter deals with Handling Bogus Phone Calls. As always, we hope you find the following article helpful.

They may say that their car has broken down and they need to phone someone for help. They may pretend to be a workman, saying that they need to check your electricity or water. They might even claim to be from the council and that they are carrying out a local survey. Whatever reason a caller gives, you need to be sure that they aren't just trying to get into your home to steal something.

There are around 12,000 incidents of "distraction burglary" each year, where callers get into homes and then steal cash or valuables while the occupier is distracted in some way. Sometimes they work in pairs, with one doing the talking while the other is stealing and they often target the elderly.

Be on your guard every time the doorbell rings, or there's a knock at your door. Look out of your window to see who's there first and if you don't know who the person is, open the window slightly and talk to them that way, rather than opening your door. Alternatively, have a viewer fitted in your front door so that you can take a good look at who's there first. If your eyesight isn't so good, don't worry as you can now get wide-angle viewers to help you see better.

Put the door chain or door bar on before opening the door and talk through the gap. You could even fit a small mirror to the wall next to the door so that you can easily see the person you are talking to.

When the caller has left and you've closed the door, don't forget to unhook the chain so that any friend or relative you have given a key to can still get in.

Make sure your back door is locked if someone knocks at your front door. Sometimes thieves work together with one coming in the back way, while the other keeps you talking at the front.

Keeping the chain on the door, ask callers from the councilor any other organization to pass through some identification. If you need your glasses to check this don't think it's rude to close the door and go and get them. A genuine caller won't mind.

If you're still not sure, ask the caller to leave and tell them to write and make an appointment so that someone else can be with you the next time they call.

The basic rule is if you don't know the person at your door don't let them in.

As part of the Government's "Stop, Chain, Check" campaign, local councils, social services and Age Concern centers have further information they can provide to older people. They can also help with door viewers, chains and mirrors, and in certain circumstances, may be able to supply a personal attack alarm that connects through to a control center.

Also, be aware of your local Police Departments phone number.

If you are not sure, CALL THE POLICE! Remember, They are here to serve and protect us!

There was a young woman who had been diagnosed with a terminal illness and had been given three months to live.

So as she was getting her things 'in order,' she contacted her Pastor and had him come to her house to discuss certain aspects of her final wishes.

She told him which songs she wanted sung at the service, what scriptures she would like read, and what outfit she wanted to be buried in.

Everything was in order and the Pastor was preparing to leave when the young woman suddenly remembered something very important to her.

'There's one more thing,' she said excitedly. 'What's that?' came the Pastor's reply. 'This is very important,' the young woman continued. 'I want to be buried with a fork in my right hand.'

The Pastor stood looking at the young woman, not knowing g quite what to say.

That surprises you, doesn't it?' the young woman asked.

'Well, to be honest, I'm puzzled by the request,' said the Pastor.

The young woman explained. 'My grandmother once told me this story, and from that time on I have always tried to pass along its message to those I love and those who are in need of encouragement.

In all my years of attending socials and dinners, I always remember that when the dishes of the main course were being cleared, someone would inevitably lean over and say, 'Keep your fork.'

It was my favorite part because I knew that something better was coming...like velvety chocolate cake or deep-dish apple pie. Something wonderful, and with substance!'

So, I just want people to see me there in that casket with a fork in my hand and I want them to wonder 'What's with the fork?'

Then I want you to tell them: 'Keep your fork ..the best is yet to come.'

The Pastor's eyes welled up with tears of joy as he hugged the young woman good-bye.

He knew this would be one of the last times he would see her before her death. But he also knew that the young woman had a better grasp of heaven than he did. She had a better grasp of what heaven would be like than many people twice her age, with twice as much experience and knowledge.

She KNEW that something better was coming.

At the funeral people were walking by the young woman's casket and they saw the cloak she was wearing and the fork placed in her right hand.

Over and over, the Pastor heard the question, 'What's with the fork?' And over and over he smiled.

During his message, the Pastor told the people of the conversation he had with the young woman shortly before she died. He also told them about the fork and about what it symbolized to her.

He told the people how he could not stop thinking about the fork and told them that they probably would not be able to stop thinking about it either.

He was right.

So the next time you reach down for your fork let it remind you, ever so gently, that the best is yet to come.

Friends are a very rare jewel , indeed .

They make you smile and encourage you to succeed. Cherish the time you have, ..and the memories you share ... being friends with someone is not an opportunity but a sweet responsibility.

There is a whole world out there, get out and expierence it! Life is way to short to sit around complaining. Yes, it is safer and easier, but at the end of the day where are you? Just the same place.

We have but a couple of days left in the month of Feburary. That means two months of 2008 have past already.

Are you doing anything to change your current position? Do you want to? What are your dreams, your desire??

Some people may say I bounce from idea to idea. They are right. But, I have my dreams and the different vehicles I use and that I am creating will get me there.

Commentary: An Open Letter to Code Pink

While the protest that you staged in front of my office on Wednesday, Sept. 26th, was an exercise of your constitutional rights, the messages that you left behind were insulting, untrue, and ultimately misdirected. Additionally, from the comments quoted in the Berkeley Daily Planet article, it is clear that you have no idea what it is that I do here. Given that I was unaware of your planned protest, I was unable to contest your claims in person, so I will therefore address them here.

First, a little bit about who I am: I am a Marine captain with over eight years of service as a commissioned officer. I flew transport helicopters for most of my time in the Marine Corps before requesting orders to come here. Currently, I am the officer selection officer for the northern Bay Area. My job is to recruit, interview, screen, and evaluate college students and college graduates that show an interest in becoming officers in the Marine Corps. Once they've committed to pursuing this program, I help them apply, and if selected, I help them prepare for the rigors of Officer Candidate School and for the challenges of life as a Marine officer. To be eligible for my programs, you have to be either a full-time college student or a college graduate. I don't pull anyone out of school, and high school students are not eligible.

I moved my office to Berkeley in December of last year. Previously, it was located in an old federal building in Alameda. That building was due to be torn down and I had to find a new location. I choose our new site because of its proximity to UC Berkeley and to the BART station. Most of the candidates in my program either go to Cal or to one of the schools in San Francisco, the East Bay, or the North Bay. Logistically, the Shattuck Square location was the most convenient for them.

Next, you claim that I lie. I have never, and will never, lie to any individual that shows an interest in my programs. I am upfront with everything that is involved at every step of the way and I go out of my way to ensure that they know what to expect when they apply. I tell them that this is not an easy path. I tell them that leading Marines requires a great deal of self-sacrifice. I tell them that, should they succeed in their quest to become a Marine officer, they will almost certainly go to Iraq. In the future, if you plan to attack my integrity, please have the courtesy to explain to me specifically the instances in which you think that I lied.

Next, scrawled across the doorway to my office, you wrote, 'Recruiters are Traitors.' Please explain this one. How exactly am I a traitor? Was I a traitor when I joined the Marine Corps all those years ago? Is every Marine, therefore, a traitor? Was I a traitor during my two stints in Iraq? Was I a traitor when I was delivering humanitarian aid to the victims of the tsunami in Sumatra? Or do you only consider me a traitor while I am on this job? The fact is, recruitment is and always has been a part of maintaining any military organization. In fact, recruitment is a necessity of any large organization. Large corporations have employees that recruit full-time. Even you, I'm sure, must expend some effort to recruit for Code Pink. So what, exactly, is it that makes me a traitor?

The fact is this: any independent nation must maintain a military (or be allied with those who do) to ensure the safety and security of its citizens. Regardless of what your opinions are of the current administration or the current conflict in Iraq, the U.S. military will be needed again in the future. If your counter-recruitment efforts are ultimately successful, who will defend us if we are directly attacked again as we were at Pearl Harbor? Who would respond if a future terrorist attack targets the Golden Gate Bridge, the BART system, or the UC Berkeley clock tower? And, to address the most hypocritical stance that your organization takes on its website, where would the peace keeping force come from that you advocate sending to Darfur?

Finally, I believe that your efforts in protesting my office are misdirected. I agree that your stated goals of peace and social justice are worthy ones. War is a terrible thing that should only be undertaken in the most dire, extreme, and necessary of circumstances. However, war is made by politicians. The conflict in Iraq was ordered by the president and authorized by Congress. They are the ones who have the power to change the policy in Iraq, not members of the military. We execute policy to the best of our ability and to the best of our human capacity. Protesting in front of my office may be an easy way to get your organization in the headlines of local papers, but it doesn't further any of your stated goals.

To conclude, I don't consider myself a 'recruiter.' I am a Marine who happens to be on recruiting duty. As such, I conduct myself in accordance with our core values of honor, courage, and commitment. I will never sacrifice my honor by lying to anyone that walks into my office. I will never forsake the courage that it takes to restrain myself in the face of insulting and libelous labels like liar and traitor. And, most importantly, I will never waver from my commitment to helping individuals who desire to serve their country as officers in the Marine Corps.

A Simple 6-Step Process For Creating Hot Product Ideas, Part 2

Yesterday we started part one of "6 simple steps for creating hot product idea"

In those steps we covered

Step One-Gather your raw materials and data for your idea generation

Step two- Review your S.E.T. trends

Step Three- Spend an hour or two reading over all your raw data ... the blog posts, ezine articles, magazine articles, forum posts, amazon book titles and S.E.T.factors.

Here are the last 3 steps, enjoy & prosper.......

Step four: Write out every possible product idea that the information triggers in your thoughts.

Don't edit. Just get it all out on paper.

(From Trapper; This step is HUGE! So many times I have had a quick thought and said to myself; "I'll write it down later", only to forget. Keep a simple note book close by you. You never know when that Million dollar idea will hit you)

Step five; Now go back to your ideas and look for your best 12 golden nuggets you can spin into full-blown product ideas for your survey.

Step six: If you don't get 12 ideas, rinse and repeat on another day.

Maybe add one or two other people to your brainstorming session.

Why You Can't Create Ideas In A Vacuum and HowTo Get Unstuck and Make Those Juicy, Profitable ProductIdeas Flow Like Water From a Fire hose.....

Let's start......

As you know, unlike most other teachers of marketing, I teach and practice using a 12-product survey to select the winning product idea you create.

Now, the mechanics of how to do this are in the ProductDashboard. But today I want to focus on how you come up with 12 product ideas to begin with.

Step one: Gather raw materials for your idea generation

You can't create out of a vacuum. You need stimuli to jump start your creative juices. Here are a few ideas:

a. Surf your favorite topics on Amazon.com.
What I've found is you'll typically come across books with great titles that no one knows about or aren't even in stock.

Make a list of any such hot titles that you find in your search.

b. Take a trip to the bookstore and buy magazines witharticles that have a relationship to your topic.

Even if your niche is very narrow, there are probably magazines you can find with articles related to your topic.

c. Try a search on newslibrary.com

This is a spiffy online site that searches a large numberof newspapers and magazines.

Print out any articles that look interesting and are somehow related to your topic.

d. Keep a swipe file where you dump articles, notesor tidbits that have the essence of a good idea in them.

e. Search blog posts and ezine articles for juicy tidbits that grab your attention.

Search your topic on technorati.com and print out any blog posts that look intriguing. Go to ezinearticles.com, search your topic and look for articles with great titles or meaty information inside. Print those puppies out.

f. Search prnewswire.com and businesswire.com for pressreleases related to your topic or target audience.

Print 'em out and stick 'em in your swipe.

g. Look for forum posts with high numbers of views.

When you see forum posts with high readership numbers, print those out.

Step two: Review your S.E.T. trends

Last week I talked about identifying social, economic and technology changes.

Before you start your idea generation, review whatever you've come up with. And as you look through magazines, newspapers, articles, blogs and web sites, print out any new S.E.T. factors that come to your attention.

Drop these into a S.E.T. swipe or research file.

Step three: Spend an hour or two reading over all your raw data ... the blog posts, ezine articles, magazine articles, forum posts, amazon book titles and S.E.T.factors.

Let all those pieces of data collide in your little brain all at once.

NOW you have the makings of good ideas. You aren't creating from a vacuum. You are creating from the contiguous association of materials and ideas.

That is, you're mixing that information in your head all at once, letting your mental synapses fire, link upconnections and create ideas for you.

Hey ya'll,

It's amazing to me how things just kind of happen. My brother once told me; "The harder you work, the luckier you get." It seems with him things just "fall" into his lap. You know the old saying, "come out smelling like a rose."

But I have to add this, because I didn't before. My brother is one of the hardest working guys I know. Things really do not just "Fall into his lap". He works his ASS off for everything he has. And because he works so hard, and is so smart, yes he does come out smelling like a rose. I am so damn proud of him. He truly is one of my inpirations.

A man was sitting on the edge of the bed, observing his wife, looking at herself in the mirror. Since her birthday was not far off he asked what she'd like to have for her Birthday. 'I'd like to be six again', she replied, still looking in the mirror. On the morning of her Birthday, he arose early, made her a nice big bowl of Lucky Char ms, and then took her to Six Flags theme park. What a day! He put her on every ride in the park; the Death Slide, the Wall of Fear, the Screaming Monster Roller Coaster, everything there was. Five hours later they staggered out of the theme park. Her head was reeling and her stomach felt upside down. He then took her to a McDonald's where he ordered her a Happy Meal with extra fries an d a chocolate shake. Then it was off to a movie, popcorn, a soda pop, and her favorite candy, M&M's. What a fabulous adventure! Finally she wobbled home with her husband and collapsed into bed exhausted. He leaned over his wife with a big smile and lovingly asked, 'Well Dear, what was it like being six again??

Her eyes slowly opened and her expression suddenly changed. 'I meant my dress size, you dumb ass!'The moral of the story: Even when a man is listening, he's gonna get it wrong.

HOW TO SELECT A BURGLAR ALARM

Burglars dislike noise - it attracts attention. A barking dog is a good deterrent in preventing burglaries. However, never totally depend on a watch dog. Some professional burglars have been known to carry delectable "dog snacks" in their pockets and with a full stomach, some watch dogs make friends easily and forget their purpose of guarding the premises. The most reliable safeguard to protect your home and possessions is a reliable alarm.

Many types of burglar alarms can be obtained for residential use. It is advisable, however, that basic hardware security measures be followed first.

If additional security is desired, the following recommendations could be helpful:
1. Have a home demonstration with the alarm done in your home, not at their office.
2. An audible alarm is recommended over silent alarms for residential use in order to first - protect persons and secondly - property.

A RELIABLE ALARM SHOULD INCLUDE:

A. A battery-powered fail-safe backup.
B. A rearming capability and siren timer shut-off.
C. Read-out ability to check working system.
D. Siren sounding device that can be installed on exterior of home to alert neighbors of possible intrusion.

When shopping for an alarm system, please take this list with you.

SECONDARY BARRIER
If the value of small personal items warrants protection, a secondary barrier is an additional safeguard. On a hinging closet door, install a 1" deadbolt lock. Store your jewelry, furs, cameras, guns, silverware and other valuables behind this barrier. Be sure to "pin" the hinges and disguise the door as best as possible. ===============================================================

Super Bowl Memory

Hey ya'll,

Here is a quick Post Super Bowl moment from Sunday night.

As I am driving through a Post Super Bowl Sobriety check point in a lovely Mid Tenn County, The Deputy approaches the car, asks how I am.

I reply fine, to which the deputy replies, "I am detecting the presence of Alcohol, have you been drinking tonight?"

To which I reply; "No, (I hadnt, I was the DD) but my buddy has."

At that point, my DRUNK, (but best friend in the world and shall remain nameless) snaps his head up, leans over and says, "That would be me" and immediately drops his head back in the famous "passed out in the passenger seat position" we all know and love.

Deputy thankfully has a sense of humor, chuckles, and send us on our way.

Pats may have lost, but I still have GREAT memories from that Super Bowl game.
